Afghanistan
First deployment. It’s so far been a hell of an experience. The people, the places, the physical labor. I feel like my life in has been a non-stop workout on everything… from my body to my mind especially.
It’s not even half way through my tour and I grow more home sick. Even though I’m stationed in Lewis, I am becoming more weary overseas. I’ve been on my own before, but this is just completely different. Other variables come in to play… such as the possibility of getting attacked (knock on wood).
I try though, to keep my mind busy. Sketching, wood carving, reading, anything to keep my mind occupied instead of just sitting here worrying. Even though now I’m reflecting on it. Maybe it’s a good thing… maybe not. Venting.
I can always talk to the guys here, but it just isn’t the same. Possibly the connection I have with them would be different than with others. Maybe I’m just looking for someone who I can completely relate to. Maybe I am looking for my soul mate. The “One.” I’m not getting any younger and I don’t want to just settle for any one.
Here’s to making it home safely. To being with my family again.. my friends.. finish school. And to finding that one woman who I can spend my life with, grow old, have children.
